Security Officer Part Time; Saturday - Sunday only

 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Length of position: 12 months, year round continuous

 

Hours: 8:00 am - 8:00 pm Saturday

           8:00 am - 9:00 pm Sunday

 

 

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

 

  • Performs routine security enforcement work including patrolling grounds
  • Manning security booth
  • Monitoring visitors
  • Checking visitors into campus using Raptor system
  • Inspecting and safeguarding buildings, property, and equipment; and directing traffic
  • Works under moderate supervision with limited latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Greets and issues visitor passes and contacts departments for visitor authorization
  • Patrolling grounds, watching for unauthorized entries to campus, documenting staff working after hours, and walking through residential and student buildings
  • Directs traffic, issues citations, places and pick up directional signs for events
  • Responds to emergencies including fire alarms, medical emergencies, crisis events, elevator emergencies, and various alarm systems
  • General security tasks related to special events
  • Documents incident reports and logs daily activities
  • Operates communication and security equipment including: security transportation vehicles, phone, security camera system, fire alarm system, elevator system, computer email, computer reports, and TSD master calendar
  • Other duties as assigned

 

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Six months of experience in security or law enforcement, Risk Management or Loss Prevention
  • Sign Language: The applicant does not need to have sign language skills at hire but are eligible to participate in sign language classes offered at TSD until reaching a level of INTERMEDIATE as evaluated on the Signed Communication Proficiency Inventory. Sign Language classes are available free of charge to employees.

 

QUALIFICATIONS DESIRED

  • Proficient signed communications skills
  • Training by the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Officer’s Standards and Education Certification in CPR, First Aid, water safety
  • Prior work experience with children in a school or related environment
  • Experience in security for a State of Texas agency or in a public school
